Conques is listed as one of the most beautiful villages of France. It is one of the most important halts for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostella. The village is set in the Aubrac valley and is a true gem of medieval architecture. For the relics of Sainte-Foy, brought here from Agen in the 9th century, a beautiful abbey-church was built, that became an important halt for pilgrims on their way to Le Puy-en-Velay and Santiago de Compostella. Besides this Norman style abbey-church with modern stained glass of Pierre Soulages, the entire village has been preserved since the Middle Ages.
